We provide free and private training to web developers who aspire to learn and master the Drupal platform. Our trainers are experienced Drupal practitioners who offer effective and convenient instruction with the focus on real development practice. Our Drupal training program contains the following sections: Technology overview, Getting started, Entities, Users and Roles management, Drupal Commerce, Views, Rules, Module development, Theming concepts, Drupal Deployment, Drupal Performance, Team workflow tools. Students will acquire additional insight into Drupal inner workings and nuances through hands-on work with supervision by assigned mentors. The mentors explained what the particular lecture material is required for and gave lots of examples. A multimedia projector has been used to demonstrate the material.
At first, we were led step by step through all of the practical assignments. Since we did not see the whole picture at the beginning, our understanding of the purpose of all these exercises sometimes would come later, after studying several topics. Generally, we understood what we were doing. In the middle of our training the instructors began giving us result-oriented assignments that we had to solve ourselves. Thus, to gain better understanding we had to read a lot, learning adjacent topics. There was always someone who could help us and give detailed answers. Lectures were held based on our learning progress. The consequent lecture would take place only after majority of trainees completed assignments.All employees treated trainees as equals.

I enrolled in the internship at the DrupalPeople company as a person who have never worked with Drupal Content Management System (“Drupal CMS”) before. After listening to lectures I usually received general comprehension of what I would face in practice. I built most of my knowledge and skills due to completion of practical tasks and self-learning. Only after I worked it out myself I was able to ask pointed questions about some specific parts of the lecture that I did not understand. Judging by absence of questions from trainees after most lectures, I infer that others had the same problem. I think, not only would it be better to give trainees visibility to a lecture content but also to give them ability to look at the practical assignments.

Trainees would be able to try to comprehend the learning material and complete assignments themselves before lectures, thereby creating opportunities for questions to emerge. Evidently, practical assignments are well thought-out and help to understand theory delivered during lectures. Possibly, the description itself sometimes is not clear enough and some points may need additional clarifications, though, these are minor things. Lack of presentation experience by some young speakers did not have major effect on our ability to perceive the material. To sum up, all the above mentioned, listening to lectures is just a small impulse to learning Drupal CMS. I gained primary knowledge and skills by completing assignments, reading supplemental materials, watching video lessons, conversing with the company team members.
